Prerequisites: Enabling third-party add-ons in Xero Practice Manager

How to enable the Xero Practice Manager permission required before connecting Zato to XPM.

Before connecting Zato to Xero Practice Manager (XPM), the staff member performing the integration must have the correct permission enabled in XPM. Without this, the connection cannot be established.

Steps

  1. Log in to Xero and navigate to Practice in the top navigation bar.

  2. Select Staff and click on the relevant staff member.

  3. Go to the Permissions tab, then select Advanced from the left-side menu.

  4. Locate Connect third-party add-ons and toggle it on.

  5. Click Save.

Once this permission is enabled, the staff member can proceed with connecting Zato via Firm Setup.

This permission must be set by a Xero administrator. If you do not have access to manage staff permissions in XPM, contact your firm's Xero administrator.
