Custom workpapers
How to create a custom (manual) workpaper, what spreadsheet options are available, and how custom workpapers differ from standard ones.
Custom workpapers let you add a workpaper that sits outside Zato's standard automated set. Use them for schedules, calculations, or reconciliations specific to a client or engagement that don't have a dedicated Zato workpaper.
Creating a custom workpaper
Open the relevant job and navigate to the Workpapers Dashboard.
Click the + icon at the top left of the workpaper sidebar.
The Add New Workpaper pop-up will appear.
Fill in the following fields:
Description: Enter a name for your workpaper. This is how it will appear in the sidebar and dashboard.
Workpaper Group: Select the group the workpaper belongs to (Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Income, or Expenses). This determines where it sits in the sidebar.
Spreadsheet Type: Choose one of two options:
Create a Blank: Opens an empty spreadsheet within Zato for you to build from scratch.
Upload a Spreadsheet: Import an existing local spreadsheet file to use as the workpaper.
Click Save to create the workpaper.
Identifying and managing custom workpapers
Custom workpapers are highlighted in green in the sidebar, making them easy to distinguish from standard workpapers.
They can be deleted at any time. Select the workpaper and use the delete option.
Standard Zato workpapers cannot be deleted.
π Custom workpapers are not driven by automation and will not auto-populate with GL or CoA data. All content must be entered manually or imported via spreadsheet upload.
How to access
Go to Jobs and open the relevant job.
Click the Workpapers Icon or navigate to Results then Workpapers.
Click the + icon in the top left of the sidebar to add a new custom workpaper.
