PDF Splitter
How to use the PDF Splitter to separate a consolidated PDF into individual files ready for workpaper processing.
The PDF Splitter feature allows users to separate a single PDF into multiple individual files. This is particularly useful when a client provides all invoices, bank statements, receipts, or other supporting documents for a job in one consolidated PDF. For accurate extraction and workpaper processing, these documents must be uploaded individually and categorised against the relevant workpapers.
Using the PDF Splitter, users can split a combined PDF into separate files by defining file names, page ranges, and the appropriate document category or workpaper.
Accessing the PDF Splitter
- As a standalone feature, accessible from anywhere in the portal after firm setup.
- During document upload via Source Docs, where users are prompted with a checkbox asking whether they would like to split the uploaded PDF before proceeding.
How to use
- Click Drag and drop PDF file here, or select a PDF file from your system.
- Click Upload and Split PDF to begin processing.
Only one PDF can be uploaded and split at a time. Multiple PDF uploads are not supported.
Viewing and downloading split files
Once processing is complete:
- The uploaded PDF will be displayed along with the total number of files created.
- Click the arrow beside the file name to expand the list and show all split documents.
- Click the Eye Icon to preview the document.
- Click the Download Icon to save individual split files.
Defining and editing page ranges
The system will display the PDF pages. For multi-page PDFs, you can manually edit the page range fields to group specific pages together. For example, if a PDF is 10 pages long, you can set the first document as pages 1-3, the second as page 4, and the third as pages 5-10.
This ensures documents are correctly organised and categorised, enabling accurate extraction and reliable workpaper outputs.
Autocoding and PDF Splitting can be used independently. Any user with portal access can use these features without setting up clients or running jobs. A user may access the portal solely to perform Autocoding or PDF Splitting and exit after completing these tasks.
