GL Scrutiny — reviewing flagged transactions

How GL Scrutiny identifies exceptions in the General Ledger and what actions are available to resolve them.

GL Scrutiny is a control and validation layer that reviews automated results and highlights exceptions, anomalies, or unusual transactions in the General Ledger. Based on predefined rules and materiality thresholds, the system flags items such as high-value transactions, GST variances, unmapped accounts, or out-of-period postings.

How it streamlines your review

  • Automated anomaly detection: Instantly identify outliers and unusual entries outside your predefined thresholds.
  • Intelligent flagging: Clear, actionable messages for each flagged item — you know exactly what needs attention.
  • Seamless journal creation: Address errors on the spot by creating journals directly from flagged transactions.
  • Structured review workflow: A systematic process ensuring every transaction is vetted before moving forward.

Available actions

  • View GL / Download GL: View the uploaded GL or export a full General Ledger.
  • Create Manual Journal (MJ): Rectify coding errors or adjust immediately.
  • Ignore: Dismiss flags that have been reviewed and deemed acceptable.
  • Add Comment: Leave notes for other team members or for the reviewer.

All anomalies are categorised based on the severity levels defined in the Rules Builder: Critical, High Priority, or Warning. Flagged values or fields are displayed in red.
