GL Scrutiny rules, how they are set and maintained
How GL Scrutiny rules are established for Connect jobs and how the formal change process works.
General Ledger (GL) Scrutiny rules ensure consistent, best-practice quality across every Connect-managed job. They are grounded in accounting industry best practice and agreed upfront between your firm, Connect, and Zato.
Step 1, Best-practice defaults shared upfront
Connect and Zato provide a set of GL Scrutiny rules, materiality thresholds, and standard policies as a starting point, built from deep experience across accounting firms.
Step 2, Your firm reviews and confirms
Your Champion reviews the defaults with your Partner Success Manager and confirms them, covering materiality thresholds, Zato's standard rules and policies, and flagging any firm-specific or client-specific adjustments needed.
Step 3, Rules locked in for Connect jobs
Once confirmed, the agreed rules apply to all Connect-managed jobs without exception.
Changing rules on Connect jobs
- Any proposed change is discussed with your Partner Success Manager
- The change is reviewed and reconfirmed by both sides before being applied
- Once reconfirmed, the updated rules apply to all subsequent Connect jobs
The formal process is not a barrier, it is a quality control. It exists to ensure that rule changes are considered and consistent, not accidental.
In-house jobs, always yours to control
For jobs your firm runs independently outside of Connect, you can adjust your own rules, thresholds, and settings at any time through Firm Setup and the Rules Builder.
