Setting Up Your Firm on Zato
Complete your firm’s setup form, sign in and connect your first integrations.
Your Zato contact prepares a setup form for your firm and emails it to the person who will sign for the firm. Everything about your agreement is already filled in. You confirm it; you do not configure it. Your progress is saved as you go, so you can close the page and come back later.
Before you start
• The setup email from Zato, sent from no-reply@zatoplatform.com. The link works for 30 days.
• Access to the same inbox, because Zato emails a 6-digit code to it.
• Authority to sign for the firm, and your job title.
• Optional: the names and email addresses of team members to invite.
• Logins for the tools you use: Xero or XPM, your document storage, and IRD (New Zealand) or the ATO (Australia).
Open the setup and verify it is you
1. Open the email from Zato and select Start the setup. If it is not in your inbox, check junk or spam.
2. Select Email me a code.
3. Enter the 6-digit code from the email and select Verify and continue. If the code does not arrive, check junk, then use Resend once the countdown finishes.
Confirm your agreement and terms
1. If your firm is starting on a pilot, read the summary tiles and the Zato Pilot Agreement, then tick I’ve read and agree to the pilot agreement, and I have permission to accept it for the firm. Firms without a pilot do not see this card.
2. Read the Terms of Use, which include the Data Processing Addendum, then tick I accept the Terms of Use and Data Processing Addendum.
3. Optional: under Add your team, select Add someone and enter each person’s name and email. Each person receives an email to set their password once you confirm. You can add more people later in Firm Details.
4. Enter your full name under Type your full name to sign, and your title under Your title. Check the Signing for line shows your firm’s name.
5. Select Confirm and enter Zato. A signed copy is emailed to you and to the Zato team.
Sign in and connect your integrations
1. On the confirmation screen, select Sign in to Zato, or wait a few seconds to be taken there automatically, and sign in.
2. Go to Firm Settings, then ZIP (Integration).
3. Connect Xero/XPM first; it brings your clients across. Then connect your tax authority (IRD or ATO) and your document storage.
Note: Only Level 6 (Director) and Level 1 (Admin) users can set up integrations. If that is not you, use Assign to on the integration’s card.
Next steps
• Add your clients from Clients, then Add Client.
• Map each client’s chart of accounts under Client Setup, then CoA mapping.
• Create a job, upload the trial balance and general ledger, and select Run Zato.
How to access: open the link in your setup email.
